Media Create Sales: Monster Hunter World Reigns Supreme, PS4 Sells 70K Units

Capcom’s Monster Hunter World is performing extremely well in Japan as the latest Media Create Sales reveal. Having topped software sales charts the week prior, the hack and slash action RPG is still going strong with 159,613 units sold between February 5th and 11th. That brings its lifetime sales in Japan to an incredible 1,750,969 units and it hasn’t even been out for a month.

Thanks to the success of Monster Hunter World, the PlayStation 4 is enjoying a nice run in hardware sales. It sold 59,691 units for the week and managed to cross 6.4 million units sold in Japan. The Nintendo Switch is in second at 43,404 units sold for the week with Splatoon selling over 2 million units locally.

In terms of new releases, Dynasty Warriors 9 was second in the software sales chart with 117,495 units sold followed by Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet selling 75,623 units in its debut. Shadow of the Colossus on PS4 sold 21,900 units in its debut, placing it in fifth place overall.
