Remember that supposed gritty reboot of Mega Man, codenamed Maverick Hunter, that was unearthed not too long ago, with the game taking place from a first person shooter perspective and featuring several ex-Metroid Prime developers working on it? The same game that was cancelled for reasons unknown?

Today, in a new post on the forums, fans asked about the project and debated on whether it should have really been cancelled or not. Corporate officer and senior vice president Christian Svensson actually responded before the thread was locked. His response?

“Given the lack of consensus in this thread alone, that should tell you what you needed to know. Suffice to say, there were very polarized opinions internally on this project as well.”

Essentially, with the amount of disagreement inside and outside the company, it makes sense that Capcom would rather pull the plug rather than sink tons of money into something not everyone would like. DmC: Devil May Cry, anyone?
