EMMA’S DEATH
Man, Otacon really can’t catch a break, can he? After losing Sniper Wolf in Metal Gear Solid, next in line was his estranged little sister Emma Emmerich in Sons of Liberty. I’m sure Emma isn’t anyone’s favourite Metal Gear character, and in the earlier stages of the game, no one could have guessed that they’d be so deeply moved by her dying. But her death was delivered deftly, with her going out in a way that you couldn’t help but remember her as a great character, while the impact her passing had on Otacon (once again) only made it that much sadder, especially when viewed in context of their family’s history.
