Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain NOT Releasing in March 2015

The Guardian apparently made a "subbing mistake" in its interview with Hideo Kojima.

Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain

The Guardian recently held an interview with Metal Gear Solid series creator and Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain director Hideo Kojima. This of course wasn’t the reason why the interview got so much attention – rather, the game’s release date was indicated at the bottom as March 27th 2015.

Naturally, this information spread and it was widely believed that The Guardian had accidentally leaked the game’s release date. However, video games editor Keith Stuart later explained to VG247 that it was actually a “subbing mistake.” Stuart had placed the date as a placeholder and it stayed that way as the piece went live. Konami was contacted for an official release date but only said “early 2015”, which led to the date in the article being changed.

So no, there wasn’t a leak or any attempt to hide one. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be out on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4.
