Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Patch Fixes PS4 Trophy Unlock Issues

Ver.1.3.1 also fixes minor issues and makes "additional adjustments" to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S and PS4 versions.

Update Ver.1.3.1 for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is live on all platforms. It fixes a long-standing issue in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Metal Gear 1 and 2, where Trophies wouldn’t unlock on PS4.

However, if you met the requirements for those Trophies already, they won’t be automatically unlocked on loading your save data. You must earn again, unfortunately. Other fixes include changing the in-game browser on Xbox Series X/S to Microsoft Edge and fixing some “minor issues” while making “additional adjustments on Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PS4 for all of the above games.

Check out the full patch notes below. Issues like the laser pointer effect not displaying in some cutscenes in MGS2 and where face paints would be in a lower resolution in MGS 3 on Xbox Series X/S are still under investigation. Stay tuned for more updates, and check out our review here.

Please check the list of changes below for details on the main improvements and fixes in this patch. Fixes of previously known issues are marked with an asterisk.

METAL GEAR SOLID 2: Sons of Liberty – Master Collection Version

  • Changed the in-game browser to Microsoft Edge (Xbox Series X|S)
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes trophies weren’t properly unlocked (PlayStation 4)

Please note that some trophies cannot be unlocked immediately upon loading save data even if the requirements have previously been met. The requirements of these trophies must be met again in order for them to be unlocked.

METAL GEAR SOLID 2: Sons of Liberty – Master Collection Version

  • An issue that results in the laser pointer effect not displaying in some cutscenes
  • An issue that causes the sea lice to be displayed incorrectly in certain scenes
  • An issue that causes the mic audio from game clips captured using console features to not save (Xbox Series X|S)
