Metroid Ravenous Announced for January 28th, 2027: “It’s Eat or Be Eaten”

Join Samus in a new battle for survival as she consumes her foes and gains new powers, including a wicked new energy blade.

Metroid Ravenous

As rumored, Metroid Ravenous is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 and looks to be a follow-up to the gameplay of Metroid Dread. After being attacked by unknown assailants, Samus is seemingly left for dead on a mysterious moon. Despite knowing her chances of survival are slim at best, she still pushes back.

If you’ve played Dread, then you’ll recognise many of the gameplay features, from directional aiming to the ability to parry. The perspective in some battles, which shifts to behind Samus, is also similar. So what’s changed? For starters, Samus needs to feed on her enemies to gain power, with the main tagline being “eat or be eaten.”

We receive a few peeks at her suit, which is decidedly more bug-like than previous iterations and can execute a sick Kamen Rider-style kick in the process. She can also activate an energy blade to slice through enemies. Even despite the sheer brutality of it all, you can’t really fault Samus for going berserk, especially when it’s to survive what could be her biggest challenge yet.

Metroid Ravenous launches on January 28th, 2027, so stay tuned for more details in the coming months. In the meantime, you can check out our review of Metroid Dread here.
