Asobo Studio has announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator will go into closed beta on July 30th. Invites are currently going out for Alpha 5 as well so if you’re part of the Xbox Insider Program, you can expect the beta to work the exact same way. Of course, all alpha players will receive access to the closed beta when it becomes available.

As for Alpha 5, it comes with some polish and tuning for all the planes along with other fixes. What the closed beta can offer is still unknown but it’s yet another step for the ambitious flight simulator en route to launch. The real question now is how long it will stay in that phase.

Microsoft Flight Simulator is still planned to release this year for PC and Xbox One, though we could get an update on this at the upcoming Xbox Series X games showcase. Along with featuring over two million towns and cities, it will also include 40,000 airports from the real world. Check out some of the more gorgeous screenshots for the title here.
