During IGN’s latest Ask Microsoft Anything About Xbox One feature, chief Xbox One platform architect Marc Whitten revealed that you’ll be able to use a single gamertag to log into both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One simultaneously.

“You’ll be able to be signed on with the same gamertag on both an Xbox 360 and an Xbox One console at the same time. However, like today, you can only be signed into one Xbox 360 and one Xbox One at a time.”

It’s interesting because this would effectively give an Xbox 360 player access to another gamertag’s information and game’s collection, even while the same gamertag is logged into an Xbox One. Now who would exactly play both consoles at once, if only to compare the graphical differences of cross-generational titles? A highly specialized audience to be sure, but there could be other functions in store for this feature yet.

The Xbox One is currently due to release this November across 13 territories worldwide.
