Xbox One Experience 1

As we get closer to it’s launch, we’re hearing more and more about what the new dashboard, dubbbed the Xbox Experience is going to offer once it’s launched. Now Microsoft is doing one better than letting us hear about it, as the company has started rolling the new dashboard out to the Xbox Preview Program users. As with all things of this nature, the early release comes with a few caveats. There are bound to be some bugs here and there. The company has also said it might change some things without warning, so this very much isn’t the finished product.

Still, Thurrott.com has detailed a number of the tweaks and changes that come with the dashboard and there are quite a few, starting with a major overhaul of the UX. One of the things that might surprise some people is that this display really doesn’t have anything in common with the Windows 10 display, other than a flat tile look that was already present in the previous Xbox One dashboard. The dash itself has a new guide bar that pops out from the left hand side of the screen and the navigation has been revamped in particular to separate out the store into tabs for Games, Apps, Movies & TV and Music.

The new dashboard includes things gamers have been calling for, for a while now such as friends and snap improvements. All in all, it appears the Xbox One Experience is going to be as big a change as advertised. The overhaul is expected to land in November.
