A solid step towards establishing a presence in competitor territory

Takashi Sensui, the division general manager of Microsoft Japan, in the wake of their end of the year Xbox 360 party, announced that he intends for Microsoft Japan to officially encroach on Sony and Nintendo territory by releasing their all new Xbox One console in Japan at some point in 2014.

This news is refreshing as there have been many rumors circling the web which seem to indicate that, Japan aside, Microsoft has been seeing some heavy delays in bringing the Xbox One to some of even their most core markets. The news that Microsoft will be focusing on a release in Japan bodes well, not only for the Japanese gaming market, but for these countries with delays as well.

The annual end of year Xbox 360 party marked the fifth anniversary of Microsoft’s foray into the Japanese gaming market. A risky move, as both Sony and Nintendo, Microsoft’s two biggest competitors are headquartered there.
