Microsoft’s Rumored Bethesda-Themed Event Could Be As Early As March 11 – Rumor

More rumors to shift through as the acquisition is in its final stages.

Last year the gaming industry was changed in a big way when it was announced that Microsoft had put in a bid to buy Bethesda. It’s the first time we’ve seen a platform holder outright buy a major third party publisher, and no doubt it’ll be an event that will be looked back on that shaped the industry in a massive way. The acquisition process seems to be nearing its final stages, and an event of some kind could come sometime this week.

There’s been rumors floating around for awhile that Microsoft would hold an event of some kind after the acquisition was made official. VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb changed his calendar of summer game plans to show March 11th as some type reference to the acquisition. On top of that, Xbox UK put up a list of streams, listing Thursday March 11th as simply TBA, followed by a stream of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim.

As always, take these rumors with a grain of salt. Grubb has been reliable in the past, but by no means 100%, and the Xbox stream could very well be a big coincidence. While the 11th seems like quite a quick turnaround, if something has been planned for that date for long enough, it’s not impossible. We’ll have to wait and see.
