Christmas is usually the time of year when you give gifts with all the big spending coming beforehand. But as far as digital gaming goes, it may be a bit of the reverse. People are spending their new gift cards, cash in the bank or whatever on their mobile apps throughout the day. 2019’s Christmas was no exception to that.

As tracked via Sensor Tower, mobile app spending was big this year and most of that money was going to mobile games. A whopping 76%, in fact, ended up going to games over other apps. That amounted to over $210 million in spending for the day across iOS and Android.

The US lead in that spending, with roughly 76% of revenue coming from the country for the day. If you’re curious who the big winner was, that goes to PUBG Mobile reaching $8.5 million. The overall gain was up year-to-year from last year’s Christmas day. Just goes to show, it’s a day for giving and then getting on your phone to disappear from the family you probably can’t stand anymore.
