NetherRealm Studios was one of many developers at EVO 2023 recently, with Mortal Kombat 1 receiving a new trailer for Reptile, Havik, and Ashrah. Some hands-on footage with the fighting game is also available – check out lead QA analyst Stephanie Brownback playing as Li-Mei in the Tower for over 10 minutes via IGN.
With Frost as a Kameo Fighter, the footage offers a better look at Li-Mei’s combos, Special Moves and in-air attacks. Her over-the-top Fatality is showcased along with a Brutality (a simple lower jaw removal). Even Frost gets in on the action, freezing an opponent and punching their skeleton out of their frozen body as a Fatality.
It also provides a brief look at the movement, with the speed and dashes improved from the stress test. The comments also report that the “Geiger counter” in the background is an accessibility option, which gets loud as your opponent gets closer. It’s an interesting new addition, and we can’t wait to see the other options.
Mortal Kombat 1 launches on September 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC and Nintendo Switch. Its closed beta takes place from August 18th to 21st for pre-orders.
