A major issue was discovered in NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat 1, showcasing a major advantage for fighters in the Player 1 slot. Long story short, those in the Player 2 position would find their combos whiffing, effectively ruining any semblance of a level playing field.
After attention was brought to the issue, director Ed Boon confirmed that a fix was coming. “The Player 1 advantage bug has been fixed, and an update is being prepped for release very soon!” The official Mortal Kombat Twitter confirmed that the patch would go live on September 29th, which also features a fix for an issue causing missing inputs for Kameo Fighters.
Of course, there are many other issues and bugs to fix, including problems with Invasion Mode (like the Seasonal Tower) or missing features like pinning moves for practice, changing outfits in the character selection screen, etc. The Nintendo Switch port is also pretty shabby, with various graphical issues and Invasion content pending.
Boon has committed to updates for the latter but also said, “Anything that we’re finding a problem with is on our list and is going to be fixed.” Stay tuned for even more updates, and in the meantime, find out which horror movie character is being teased for potential Halloween DLC.
Once again, THANK YOU for all your feedback with MK1. You are helping us make the game better every day.

We are aware of the exploit giving an unintended advantage to Player 1 in specific match up scenarios. We are currently addressing for a patch this Friday. Also included will be a fix for the issue causing missing inputs when using kameos.
