During the San Diego Comic Con, Mortal Kombat Legacy web-series producer Lance Sloane talked about how a new movie would be coming out in the franchise. He also indicated that a new game may be in the works.

In conversation with GamerHub.TV (via CVG), Sloane stated that his team had “been in greenlight committee for a while at the studio and we’ve got a great script. And we’ve got a great director with Kevin Tancharoen, who is on board.”

He also talked about how the best time to launch the movie would be whenever the new game comes around, so they “sync up” with it. “It’s just figuring out the business side of it and when we would do it and when we would launch it and how do we sync up with the launch of the game that they’re working on now. It’s not 100 per cent yet, but we’re getting closer every day.”

As of now, no new Mortal Kombat has been officially announced or confirmed by NetherRealm Studios. Perhaps this will be for the next generation of consoles?
