Mortal Kombat X Heading to Android and iOS

Mixes fighting game and card battler elements.

NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X will mark the series’ debut on Xbox One and PS4 (along with releasing on previous gen machines) but it will also be heading to Android and iOS as well.

This isn’t to say it will be the same kind of experience though. The developer has revealed that it will feature several elements from the console games including Fatalities but there will be card collecting elements involved as well. You’ll still see series vetertains like Raiden and Sub-Zero and one can even unlock content in the console game by playing the mobile version.

A trailer indicates how the concept will play out but we’ll need to wait until Mortal Kombat X releases in April to see how it works out. This isn’t the first time a developer has attempted to have players engage in its mobile app to unlock content in the main game. Hopefully, unlike Assassin’s Creed: Unity, NetherRealm provides more incentive. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
