Mortal Shell

Update: A new 16 minute long gameplay interview with Cold Symmetry has been released. It talks more about the inspirations of Moral Shell, showcases the combat in greater detail and even features a boss fight. Check it out below.

Original Story:

Cold Symmetry’s Mortal Shell finally got its gameplay reveal and showcased the cold, unrelenting world that players will battle against. The action RPG makes no bones about its Dark Souls inspiration but it introduces some interesting new mechanics of its own. Check out the gameplay.

So what are the Shells? They’re the playable characters that one will learn more about. Each has different abilities that unlock as you uncover their stories with four Shells in total to unlock. Though you can choose one from the beginning, the others have to be located for later usage.

When your health is gone, you’re ejected from the Shell and must survive with 1 HP. Hilariously enough, it’s possible to play through the game without a Shell if you really crave the challenge. Mortal Shell releases in 2020 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. However, there will be a PC beta on July 3rd and will see the Crypt of Martyrs being playable. Stay tuned for more details and updates in the coming weeks.
