Persona 5 is one of the best games released all year, and also one of the greatest games and RPGs of all time. So it makes sense that not only will critics and players enjoy it, but developers, too. And in a blog post on the PlayStation Blog, where multiple developers sounded off about their favorite games of the year, many of them made sure to take time to recognize the brilliance of Pesona 5.

These developers include people from Arkane Studios and Airship Syndicate. For instance, Josh Phelan, Senior Gameplay Engineer at Arkane said, ““From the demon negotiation, which was more interesting than the random tarot cards that would happen after battles in Persona 4, giving some personality to the personas while trying to get a read on their personalities, to my standout character from all PlayStation games during the year, Futaba Sakura, and all the way to the final battle and having everyone in the city cheering you on, not to mention Shoji Meguro’s soundtrack playing throughout (which is top notch at all times).”

Unfortunately, while Phelan has impeccable taste in games, that doesn’t extend to his taste in characters, or he would have known that Makoto is best girl.

Steve Madureira, Lead Designer/Lead Animator at Airship Syndicate (of Battle Chasers: Nightwar fame) completely sidestepped the question of best girl, simply to talk about the game itself.

“I love the Persona series, and this turned out to be an amazing one. I had been waiting for a Persona game for eight years since Persona 4 came out. The silver lining with waiting two console generations for a sequel is that it’s a huge jump from the previous games in the series, taking advantage of two huge steps in hardware upgrades,” he said.

So, yes, developers are smitten by a game that has stolen their hearts- you should go ahead and play it too. It’s so good, you’ll never see it coming.
