Titanfall 2

The future of the Titanfall franchise has looked murky for a while now, ever since Titanfall 2 failed to see the kind of commercial performance EA had hoped it would. Though Apex Legends – which is part of the Titanfall universe – continues to go from strength to strength, whether or not we will see a new Titanfall game anytime soon remains to be seen.

As per Vince Zampella –CEO of Respawn Entertainment who recently also took charge of DICA LA – that might take a while. While speaking with IGN, Zampella confirmed that no new Titanfall project was currently in development.

“There’s nothing currently in development,” he said. “But it’s always there.”

Zampella, however, says that he hopes for a franchise revival in the future, and that that’s something he will try and get off the ground.

You see the little bits of stuff coming back [through the lore in Apex Legends],” he said. “At some point, I would personally like to see some kind of resurrection there. We’ll see if I can make that happen.”

It was confirmed when Apex Legends was first unveiled that Respawn were not working on Titanfall 3but there were reports following that that suggested a new game in the series was forthcoming. EA suggested in early 2019 that a new Titanfall game was in development, while around that same time, Zampella teased something similar. His latest comments, however, would suggest that that game has either been cancelled, or indefinitely put on hold.

In October last year, EA made comments that suggested that they would be doubling down on the success of Apex Legends, and that a new Titanfall game wasn’t part of their plans for the foreseeable future. You can read more on that through here.
