The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt looks stunning, and its ambition is startling. If you needed to be convinced about any of this, then this newest trailer, entitled ‘Traveling Monster Hunter,’ will probably do a good job of bringing you on board. It features the key developers and designers of the game talking about their ambition and the process that went into designing the game world, and it showcases the breadth and richness of the world that The Witcher 3 presents us with, and which is all traversable by protagonist Geralt of Rivia, to be traversed on horseback.
The footage included also shows off other things, such as the dynamic weather and day and night effects, which further add to the illusion of this being a real and living world that exists independently of Geralt’s story, with Geralt’s story only happening to take place there.
Personally, it gets me amped. It looks like the open world from Skyrim, married to the kind of high quality narrative and storytelling that The Withcer games have been known for in the past- so the best of all worlds.
