New Video Shows Off Xbox SmartGlass, Discusses How The Console Is Future Proof

Xbox SmartGlass makes the console built for the future.

Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox One console may be a bit lacking in the specs department compared to Sony’s PlayStation 4, but it is still built for the future, if Xbox Director of Product Planning Albert Penello is to be believed. Apparently, the one-two salvo and combo of Kinect and Xbox SmartGlass give the Xbox One some insurance against the future, with the new methods of interacting with the product meaning it can keep up in the modern tablet and smartphone era.

The video above talks in depth about these two features, and the extent to which they have influenced the design of Microsoft’s new console. Watching it, even the most hardened cynic might at least momentarily believe in Microsoft’s idea of one connected future.

Are you getting Xbox One? Are you excited for the new Kinect and SmartGlass functionality, or is it all about the games for you? Let us know in the comments!
