It looks like Microsoft is set to place new restrictions on what third party accessories you will be able to use with your Xbox console. As reported by Windows Central, starting from November, unauthorized Xbox accessories made by third party manufacturers will no longer be usable with Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Recent days have seen players receiving error messages with the error code “0x82d60002”, informing them that their unauthorized connected accessories will no longer be usable starting November 12.

Interestingly enough, Windows Central reports that, based on its sources, this is due to Microsoft gearing up to lift restrictions on wireless third party accessories. Though traditionally the vast majority of third party Xbox accessories have been wired, it’s claimed that Microsoft now has an approval process in place for wireless third party accessories, and that the new restrictions on unauthorized accessories could be a new security measure.

Microsoft has yet to provide any official communication on the reasoning for this change, so stay tuned for further updates.
