We got to learn a lot about Microsoft’s future plans for gaming at this year’s E3. In a recent interview with Weekly Famitsu, Xbox Head Phil Spencer discussed more of what the future holds for Xbox gamers and also about their collaboration with Japanese developers.
First of all, Spencer discussed the importance of the relationship between publishers and platform holder as this is how bonds are being built in the industry. He also stated that he has traveled to Japan many times to visit publishers and is now working closely with many Japanese developers. Regarding Microsoft’s recent acquisition of five studios, Spencer stressed the importance of first-party titles for a console and stated that fans can now look forward to some great first-party games for their Xbox console.
With the Xbox One X, Microsoft managed to make the most powerful console on the market. Spencer stated that he would like to improve on that with the next generation of Xbox which will place the gamer at the center. Key areas to focus on will be resolution and frame rate and Microsoft is already working with multiple hardware companies to build new hardware. Furthermore, Spencer also stated that investing in Artificial Intelligence could be very helpful for the future of gaming.
Microsoft has always been an advocate for streaming technology, and Spencer once again stressed its importance as he aims to bring deep games to a wider audience who do not own home consoles. Finally, Spencer stated that Japanese developers are now supporting the Xbox and Japanese Xbox gamers will have a lot to look forward to in the future.
