NieR Automata on Nintendo Switch Could Still Happen, Say Developers

For the glory of mankind.

NieR Automata was announced for the Xbox One during Microsoft’s E3 press conference last Sunday, which is great- but it was Switch fans who felt left out in the cold, especially since the Switch audience would absolutely eat something like NieR up, were it offered to them.

It seems as though a Switch version might still be in consideration, then. During a Square Enix stream, Director Yoko Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, and designer Takahisa Taura teased the prospect of a Switch port happening, noting that it is something all of them want, and that Platinum could take the time out to make one once the Xbox One version is out.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that would be great- of course, on the flip side, one must consider the technological limitations involved. Getting NieR Automata, which is a fairly technically demanding game, to run on the Switch might not be that easy. But I certainly do hope Platinum and Square Enix try.
