Nintendo Focusing On Ensuring “Robust Supply” For the Switch, Not Offering Discounts This Holiday Season

Nintendo will not be offering discounts on the Switch as part of the Black Friday sales.

The Nintendo Switch has been selling exceptionally well throughout the year. The console is in so much demand that Nintendo has been facing problems with supply shortages. It should come as no big surprise then that Nintendo will not be offering discounts on the console this holiday season. While it would have been nice if the Switch was cheaper as part of the Black Friday sale, it clearly doesn’t make sense to offer discounts on a product that is selling so well.

Fils-Aime, speaking to the Washington Post stated, ““We are not discounting the Switch,” and stated that they’re instead “focusing on making sure we have robust supply at retail.” The priority here is clearly to ensure that supply meets demand rather than on offering lucrative deals. The rate at which the Nintendo Switch is selling is surprising.

It has been selling better than both the Xbox One and PS4 did last year. Then again, the great lineup of games for the console will ensure its continued success in the future.
