The Nintendo Switch has been selling extremely well across the world, and signs of player interest waning for the foreseeable future are nowhere to be found. Nintendo insists that Switch is still in the mid-point of its lifecycle, but it undoubtedly struggles performance-wise with third-party multiplatform games.

To combat this issue, Nintendo might be using AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution to boost performance by a significant margin. As spotted by Twitter user NWPlayer123, a test version of the upcoming Nintendo Switch Sports seems to have a license for the technology- which points at it being used in-game.

The fact that AMD’s FSR isn’t as reliant on machine learning as Nvidia’s DLSS might explain why Nintendo might be using this tech (more so, on a custom-developed Nvidia chip). According to the user, this technology isn’t currently available for third-party developers, so fans shouldn’t expect it to be popping in multi-platform games anytime soon.

With demanding exclusives such as the likes of the sequel toThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Metroid Prime 4 releasing in the near future, FSR could prove to be a great tool for delivering great performance with solid visuals for the near future.
