Nintendo Switch’s paid online service, which is due to arrive for the hybrid platform in September, is now available to pre-purchase. Amazon currently allows for purchasing 3-month and 12-month subscriptions for $7.99 and $19.99 respectively. Of course, you can also head to the Nintendo eShop when the online service launches and directly purchase it from there.
Nintendo Switch Online will offer multiplayer for games like Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart 8, Mario Tennis Aces and more when it launches. That means you can’t play with anyone who isn’t subscribed to the online service. There will also be support for 20 NES games with online play for the first time and more games are on the way.
Other features like smartphone app compatibility, cloud backup for save data and special deals for members are also in the pipeline. Unfortunately, Virtual Console doesn’t appear to be part of the deal (or part of the Switch, given Nintendo’s stance on the same). Regardless, will you pick up Nintendo Switch Online?
