Nintendo announced in its latest earnings release that the Switch hit 125.62 million lifetime sales. In the three months ending March 31st, 2023, it sold 3.07 million hardware units and 41.85 million software. Overall, 17.97 million consoles were sold in the past fiscal year, slightly below the company’s forecast of 18 million.
It’s forecasting 15 million units sold in the fiscal year ending March 31st, 2024. There are still plenty of big releases coming up, like this week’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which could be another system seller like its predecessor. Fans can also look forward to more DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, while Pokemon Scarlet and Violet receive two expansions this year.
This July also sees the launch of the long-awaited Pikmin 4. Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto also teased a new Mario title to be announced, though Nintendo reportedly doesn’t have a Direct planned for June. Stay tuned for more details.
