The weapons and armour in Nioh aren’t straightforward drops. Director Fumihiko Yasuda said the team took inspiration from Diablo 3 and Borderlands for Nioh’s loot aspects. This means that weapons will have varying attributes upon discovery thus making it possible to have several different variants of the average sword. Loot will also have different rarities so prepare to hunt for Legendries and Exotics/Epics in a whole new universe.
