Team Ninja’s Nioh 2 is out this Friday and Koei Tecmo has released a launch trailer showcasing the various battles to come. Many are against Yokai, with many new varieties emerging in the prequel, but protagonist Hideyoshi will fight darkness with darkness with his own Yokai powers . Check out the trailer below.
Taking place before the first game’s events, Nioh 2 introduces some new mechanics in addition to new weapon types like dual hatchets and the switchglaive. The Burst Counter is useful for staggering enemies before they execute powerful attacks. Soul Cores can be obtained from Yokai to use different powers. You can also shift into different Yokai forms to wreak havoc.
Couple this with new weapon attributes like Blessed and Corrupted, the former restoring Ki on blocking and the latter which fills the Yokai meter faster, to gain the upper hand. Despite the rough battles ahead, players can call also in help from other players, taking on missions in groups of three with instanced loot (though enemies will be greater in number).
