No Man’s Sky Player Loses Discovery Progress, Re-Download Fixes Issue

No, your discoveries aren't being continually wiped.

No Man's Sky

Over the past several hours, one Reddit user reported a rather annoying problem in No Man’s Sky. Apparently, the user’s discovery progress had been wiped. This included star names and their corresponding discoveries, animals, plants, etc. Though the system name and planet names were intact, everything else was gone.

Other users reported the same issue and it seemed to indicate that No Man’s Sky would continually wipe discovery progress overtime. Which sounds kind of ridiculous but given the amount of information that has to be stored and the amount of planets out there, with less likelihood that players would revisit many of them after a few weeks, would anyone have really noticed?

However, as it turns out, the missing discovery progress was intact. The user later updated community members that re-downloading the game fixed the issue. It could likely have been a server issue of some sort but the information is most definitely there. If you find yourself facing the same issue, this is the best possible solution.
