No More Room in Hell 2

With the Early Access exit of No More Room in Hell 2, developer Torn Banner Studios has revealed more details about what the 1.0 update entails for the co-op horror game, including the addition of an entirely new game mode with its own set of unique maps. Check out the trailer detailing the update, dubbed Armageddon, below.

The new game mode, dubbed Survival, will pit players against waves of zombies across three maps: Flooded, Light House, and Night of the Living Dead. The goal of the mode is to defend speakers for a set amount of time before successfully extracting. Joining Survival is a new objective-centric map, dubbed Bunker. The map tasks players with entering an underground bunker in Raven Rock to extract the facility’s director and successfully get out.

The update also introduces a host of other additions, including a solo mode that allows players to dive into any of the game’s various maps without any co-op partners. Since the end of Early Access also means that every player’s progression is getting completely wiped, the developers have also fully overhauled the in-game economy, changing up how new items and cosmetics can be earned, and how long it takes to earn them. A host of new items, like the Rescue Beacon, have also been added to the game.

The Rescue Beacon is particularly noteworthy, since it introduces a new twist to the game’s permadeath-centric progression system. When equipped, players who would otherwise die during a mission will instead be able to bring back at least one of the other items they had for the mission.

The progression system is getting a major boost with the addition of assignments, which can be completed to earn a new currency – Merits. These Merits can be spent on any item that can otherwise only be bought with credits.

Since the exit from Early Access as well as the console release of No More Room in Hell 2 is likely to attract new players to the game, there is also a new tutorial mode that will help teach these players the basics of the game and its overall loop. The general difficulty settings are also getting major overhauls, with the lower difficulties being made a bit easier while the higher ones are much more challenging.

No More Room in Hell 2 originally made its Early Access debut back in 2024. At the time, we noted that its combination of survival horror gameplay from the original No More Room in Hell with extraction shooter mechanics seen in many multiplayer games today offered a unique twist. We also praised its gunplay and visual fidelity. However, we had plenty of complaints at the time, including many technical bugs, network issues, and a repetitive gameplay loop.

Many of these issues have been fixed over the course of the game’s Early Access tenure, however, and the studio has continued to work with the horror co-op game’s community to introduce many new features.

Players interested in picking up No More Room in Hell 2 on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S should also keep an eye on a 20 percent discount that celebrates its launch.
