No More Room in Hell 2

After having spent two years in Early Access, developer Torn Banner Studios has announced that its co-op horror game, No More Room in Hell 2, is finally getting a 1.0 release on August 11th. Alongside the PC version exiting Early Access, the same date will also mark the title’s arrival on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, complete with support for 8-player co-op multiplayer.

The Xbox Series X/S version of No More Room in Hell 2 is already available for pre-order with a 20 percent discount. On launch day, the title will get a 35 percent discount on Steam and the Epic Games Store for the PC version, and a 20 percent discount on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The studio has noted that the exit from Early Access will mark “a wealth of new content and gameplay overhauls”, with two years of development being capped off. The shooter’s community also seems to have played a major role in this, with the studio noting that over 8,000 of the bug fixes could be attributed directly to the diligent reporting of Early Access players. With 1.0, players can also look forward to performance optimizations, quality-of-life upgrades, overhauled difficulty tiers, match reconnect, an ‘Unstuck’ button, UI improvements, and more.

Some of the other features of the 1.0 update include new game modes, including a risk-free Solo mode for practice and the horde-defense Survival mode, new character customization options, improved tutorials through Responder Doug’s training grounds, a new way for players to earn Merits, and four new environments across its various game modes.

“Reaching 1.0 is a monumental milestone for No More Room in Hell 2. Throughout Early Access, we’ve worked hand-in-hand with our community to refine, polish, and expand the game into the ultimate high-stakes co-op horror experience,” said studio CEO and creative director Steve Piggott. “This launch brings the definitive version of the game we always envisioned. We are so excited to finally bring the brutal, 8-player survival nightmare to life, and we can’t wait to see how squads handle the horror when they step into the zone.”

Executive vice president of publishing at Green Man Gaming, Chris Jones, has also celebrated the 1.0 release of No More Room in Hell 2 by praising the studio’s decision to launch the game on consoles, and as a result, helping bring a genre more traditionally stuck on PC to console platforms.

“Hardcore, tactical horror has traditionally been a PC-dominated space, leaving console players largely underserved when it comes to high-stakes survival. But with this launch, we are thrilled to finally open the quarantine zone to console audiences and offer them a truly uncompromising survival horror challenge.”

In our review of No More Room in Hell 2 from back when it first came out, we found the tactical horror game to be a mixed bag due to its technical issues, awkward AI, and repetitive gameplay loop. However, we noted that the combination of the original No More Room in Hell’s survival horror elements with extraction shooter gameplay mechanics was an intriguing idea.
