The NPD’s report for August 2014 is out and Sony is on top once again with US hardware sales for the PlayStation 4. After the NPD released its official dat, PlayStation marketing senior VP Guy Longworth stated that, “PlayStation 4 was number one in hardware sales for the eighth consecutive month and remains the cumulative leader for next generation game consoles.

“For the third consecutive month, PlayStation was number one in combined home console hardware sales (PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3).”

PS4 games also had very strong sales with titles like Madden NFL 15 and and Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition “had their strongest sales on PS4.” The Last of Us: Remastered meanwhile was the highest selling first party title in August, which isn’t surprising considering the utter lack of high profile releases in the month.

What will this month be like for Sony especially with games like Destiny? We’ll find out next month but stay tuned for more information on the NPD’s August 2014 report.
