“Is it coming to the Switch?” has become a meme as much as it is an actual question at this point- but it also is an actual question, owing to the popularity of the system. It’s also a question we asked Lorne Lanning – creator of the Oddworld series and co-founder of Oddworld Inhabitants – about the upcoming remake (or reimagining) Oddworld: Soulstorm.
Lanning told us that they haven’t announced any launch platforms for the game yet- but did go on to spark some hope for Switch owners regardless. As Per Lanning, Oddword Inhabitants see the Switch as an important system, and in addition to the upcoming Switch port of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath (for which an update is going to be coming in July), they’ll be announcing a couple more “things” coming to the Switch.
“We haven’t announced platforms yet, so I won’t be able to comment on Soulstorm coming to Switch,” said Lanning. “But I can tell you that we will have an update this July about Stranger’s Wrath coming to Switch. In addition, you should expect a couple more announcements about ‘things’ coming to Switch in the immediate future. Switch is an important platform and we are going to support it with content.”
Here’s hoping we get an announcement for Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty coming to the Switch soon. It’s also worth noting the upcoming Oddworld: Soulstorm is being developed on the Unity Engine, which does have support for the Nintendo Switch, so a Switch version for the game wouldn’t be completely out of the question either.
Oddword: Soulstorm is scheduled for a 2020 launch, though an exact release date or launch platforms – as mentioned – are not yet known.
