What better way to bring in the new year than the end of another season of Overwatch Competitive Play? Well, there are plenty of better ways, but that’s besides the point. Season 13 is coming to an end on December 31st, 2 PM PST. If you haven’t finished those placement matches, this weekend would be a good time to do so.

In an interesting twist however, the downtime before the next season has been reduced drastically. Season 14 will begin two hours after Season 13 ends on December 31st at 4 PM PST. The change for the downtime hasn’t been explained.

Perhaps the development team simply wants to reduce the amount of time that players aren’t engaged with Competitive Play. Overwatch also has its Winter Wonderland event on-going which added new cosmetics to earn through loot boxes. Five free loot boxes were doled out to players on Christmas, so that should provide a decent chance at new items.

Winter Wonderland will be ending on January 2nd, 2019 for all platforms.
