Overwatch Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch Now Available on PTR

New map Château Guillard also available to play-test.

Blizzard Entertainment has added two new modes for Overwatch on the Public Test Realm for PC users – Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch.

As outlined by director Jeff Kaplan in the latest developer update, Deathmatch sees four players battling it out, free-for-all style. The first player to make 20 points wins. Points are decided by whoever gets the killing blow and points are lost if you, say, die by falling or killing yourself. A new scoreboard will be in place to track kills.

Team Deathmatch on the other hand is a 4 vs. 4 mode where the first team to score 30 points wins. The same rules apply but if players are resurrected prior to respawning via Mercy’s Ultimate then those points will be deducted from the enemy team’s score.

Maps that these two modes can be played in include Hanamura, Volskaya Industries, Dorado, Eichenwalde, Hollywood and King’s Row. It should be noted that Black Forest, Castillo, Ecopoint: Antarctica and Necropolis are for TDM players only. A new map will also be introduced – Château Guillard, home of Widowmaker the sniper. You’ll be able to access both modes in Custom Games.
