Blizzard’s Overwatch continues to remain one of the most successful games worldwide, and a lot of that comes down to the excellent post launch support it has continued to get- which, to fans of Blizzard, should come as no surprise. After all, this is the company that continues to release major updates for games like Diablo 2, which are over 15 years old.
Speaking in the latest Developer Update for Overwatch, Jeff Kaplan said that a new hero will be coming to the multiplayer first person shooter soon. He refused to commit to a release date for the new hero, but he did drop some teases. “We are well along the path on hero 27,” Kaplan said. “We think the hero is very awesome. We think the hero is very needed.”
He confirmed that the new hero is currently in internal testing, and also revealed that, obviously, Blizzard doesn’t just plan to stop there. “We’re also thinking about heroes beyond hero 27 as well,” he said. Which is good- that’s the sort of thing that will make Overwatch fresh for years to come. Kaplan also confirmed that new skins and events, including the Anniversary event, are on their way, too.
The game is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
