Overwatch Gifts Five Free Loot Boxes For Christmas

Simply login to the game and receive free Winter Wonderland loot boxes.

Overwatch Winter Wonderland

Just like last year, players of Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch have received five free loot boxes to celebrate Christmas. The loot boxes pertain to the Winter Wonderland event and only contain cosmetics exclusive to the even. If you login now, you can claim the free loot boxes.

Considering the approaches other developers have taken (like Bungie’s Destiny 2 not giving event-based Bright Engrams on leveling up for The Dawning), it’s fairly generous of Blizzard. That being said, loot boxes are on a bit of slippery slope these days so your mileage may vary on how positive this is.

In other Overwatch news, game director Jeff Kaplan recently spent about 10 hours – or so it seems – on Twitch, sitting by the fireplace and occasionally doing things. By the end of the stream, Kaplan teased a new hero coming to Overwatch and an ARG is currently underway, which should likely lead to the hero’s reveal sometime next year.
