Overwatch Permanently Adds CTF, Bastion Changes on PTR

Oh and Mercy got buffed.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch has been updated on the Public Test Realm and there’s quite a lot to look forward to. Capture the Flag has been added to the Arcade, thus allowing players to permanently access it going forward.

Even better, the PTR has CTF variants on Nepal, Lijiang Tower, Ilios and Oasis, providing a total of 12 maps to play and access in Custom Games (which recently received a Server Browser we’ll detail separately).

More importantly, changes for Bastion are also live on the PTR. They’re extensive and include a new passive abiliy to let him take 35 percent less damage in Sentry and Tank form (armour has been completely removed from the Ultimate however).

Sentry now has a reduced deploy time, 50 percent higher bullet spread (which is always at maximum) and a 300 round magazine. You can no longer score headshots though.

While Recon has seen a 25 percent decreased bullet spread and lower magazine, Bastion can now use Self-Repair on the go and no longer be interrupted while taking damage. A new resource meter has been added, much like D.Va’s Defense Matrix, that recharges over time.

Mercy is also temporarily invulnerable when using Resurrect now so that’s nice.

Will these changes make Bastion more viable? We’ll find out in the coming weeks.
