In the midst of the recent Halloween Terror event, Blizzard Entertainment revealed that Overwatch’s player base has reached 20 million. That’s a pretty big deal given the fact that it’s a little less than five months old. Also, for what’s primarily a multiplayer shooter, those are numbers you expect over a game’s lifetime rather than the initial few months.

Overwatch’s popularity was apparent even before the game released – the open beta saw 9.7 million participants who logged in 9000 years of gameplay over a few days.

It’s been the most watched game on Twitch for 2016 and its popularity shows no signs of slowing down. Just look at the hype for the recent Halloween update which brought new skins, sprays, victory poses and a new co-op PvE Brawl.
