Overwatch Blizzard

Overwatch, Blizzard’s team-based multiplayer shooter, has been receiving a fairly good amount of regular updates since launch. We’ve seen Competitive Play, the introduction of Ana, balance changes for heroes and the Summer Games event which added Lucioball and a bunch of new skins, emotes and highlight intros. However, this September, it will be receiving its very first new map with Eichenwalde.

This is essentially a German castle with varying levels of verticality in the middle of the map and will encourage different strategies from players. It will be playable at Gamescom for attendees, which is when we’ll find out what kind of mode it’s meant for (signs currently point to King of the Hill). If that weren’t enough, it even ties into the upcoming short “The Last Bastion” since it’s the place Bastion was found.

What are your thoughts on Eichenwalde as the first new map for Overwatch? Let us know in the comments below.

Update: Eichenwalde will actually be an Assault/Hybrid map. Check out gameplay footage from the same below.
