Overwatch Symmetra Rework Hitting PTR “Very Soon”

Lead writer Michael Chu teases the Support hero's latest changes.

Overwatch Symmetra

Heroes in Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch have gone through their share of reworks. From Roadhog and Mercy to Lucio and Hanzo, it seems every hero has been changed significantly in some way since launch. The most interesting hero of them all has been Symmetra, a Support class hero that doesn’t really heal.

Aside from that anomalous nature, Symmetra is also infamously known as the hero that has no playtime in the Overwatch League (even Torbjorn has been used more). Whether that was the motivating factor or not, Blizzard announced that she would be reworked and classified as more of a Defense hero. In a recent interview with lead writer Michael Chu during Saturday’s OWL matches, it was confirmed that the rework would be hitting the Public Test Realm “very soon”.

“Very soon” usually indicates within the next week or two. We’ll have to wait and see if this makes her more viable but before that, Overwatch will be celebrating its second Anniversary Event starting May 22nd. Symmetra is one of several heroes that will be receiving a new Legendary Skin called “Magician”.
