Palworld Creator Says Nintendo Switch Port May be Hard “for Technical Reasons”

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe also dreams of a "true PvP mode" akin to Ark or Rust, with Arena considered "kind of an experiment."

Pocketpair’s Palworld is gearing up for the Sakurajima Update, which brings new island with various biomes, new Pals and the Arena for PvP. However, the developer also recently teased a potential launch on PlayStation at some point. The question then arises: What about Nintendo Switch?

CEO Takuro Mizobe spoke to Game File about this, noting, “So maybe it’s hard to port to Switch just for technical reasons.” This is primarily due to the PC specifications being higher than that of Nintendo’s hardware. It’s not out of the question, but considering the challenges, it may not be the highest priority for the developer.

Mizobe also said that Arena is “kind of an experiment. My dream is to achieve a true PvP mode in Palworld. I want more of the Ark or Rust style.” How long it would take to achieve this remains to be seen, but having 32 players battling it out with their Pals is certainly ambitious.

In the meantime, Palworld’s Sakurajima Update arrives on June 27th for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. It’s increasing the level cap for players and Pals while adding a new Faction Leader. Players can also challenge previous leaders on Hard Mode for an added challenge. A new Raid Boss and the Oil Rig Stronghold also await. More peaceful players can look forward to new structures and revamped building mechanics. Head here for more details.
