Palworld Developer is Thinking About How it Can Expand on the Game’s World

Head of communications and publishing John Buckley reiterated, however, that Palworld was never intended to be a live service game.

Pocketpair has been enjoying incredible success with the recent 1.0 launch of Palworld. While many players have been trying to hunt down all the new content in the game, in an interview with Game8, the studio’s head of publishing and communications, John Buckley, said that the company has secret plans to add even more content to the game.

While acknowledging the fact that “Palworld’s not a live service” game that gets content updates every week or month, Buckey said that the studio has also been thinking about how it can expand on the already-massive world of the game. This could also mean new spin-off titles like Palworld: Palfarm.

“We are also kind of thinking about the future; Palworld is already a very big game,” he said. “It already pushes the tech to its absolute limit, especially as it’s on consoles and on PC. We’re thinking carefully about what we might do next. We’ve got some spin-offs we’re experimenting with, and hopefully we’ll be able to figure out how to keep expanding the Palworld universe.”

As for whether development on Palworld would continue indefinitely, Buckely said, “Even if we chose to completely stop development on July 10th after 1.0, the game would always be playable as it is without any changes. So in my opinion, we’re not a live service game.”

The 1.0 update for Palworld brought in an immense amount of new content to the game, including 72 more Pals that can be befriended, put to work, or fought, of which 47 are entirely new and 25 are variants. This has brought the total number of Pals in the game up to 287. The update also expanded on the world itself and added new systems, like Radiant Gems, that can be used to trigger Awakenings to boost your Pals’ power levels.

For more details about how much has changed in Palworld since it exited Early Access, take a look at the 10 biggest improvements in the game’s 1.0 release so far. And if you’re still curious, here’s everything you need to know about it.

On launch, the title managed to hit almost 500,000 concurrent players on Steam. In the following days, it went on to cross 850,000 concurrent players. It is worth noting that the actual number of players is likely higher, since these numbers don’t take the console releases into account. Buckley took to social media to celebrate these impressive milestones. “Obviously, we had high expectations for 1.0 internally, but this is staggering. We really hope you are enjoying your time in Palworld again!” he wrote.

In the meantime, Pocketpair has been working on its farming game, Palworld: Palfarm. It was unveiled back in September 2025 with a trailer and will have players working alongside Pals to run their own farm. While not too many details about the game have been revealed so far, the announcement trailer did confirm that Pals will have specific skills that can aid the player in certain aspects of running a farm. The game is also expected to include crafting, mining, building, and cooking mechanics.
