Pocketpair’s Palworld has over 100 Pals to capture across its archipelago. It may not seem like a lot, but with different traits, work suitability, Alpha Pals, Shinies and even Fusion Pals, there’s tons to discover. How do you go about catching them?
Pal Spheres are required, with some doled out fairly early on. Mining Paldium and crafting them is essential, but they won’t be suited for higher-level and stronger Pals. This is where more powerful versions – like Mega Spheres, Giga Spheres, Hyper Spheres, Ultra Spheres and Legendary Spheres – come into play.
You can find some of these in the wild, loot them from Faction enemies or chests and purchase them from enemies. The higher tiers should be crafted using Sphere Assembly Lines, so keep that in mind for late-game.
Finally, collect all the Lifmunk Effigies you can find, as they’ll increase your Capture Power when consumed at a Statue of Power. They glow green and are just about everywhere.
Best Pals and Their Locations
Every Pal has their strengths and weaknesses, but here are some of the best ones you should capture as soon as possible, from early to mid and late game.
Name | Type | Work Suitability | Location | Why You Should Use |
---|---|---|---|---|
Cattiva | Neutral | Handiwork (1), Gathering (1), Mining (1) and Transporting (1) | Found early on, regardless of region | When you’re first starting, Cattiva is the best choice for base work. Its Partner Skill, Cat Helper, also increases the player’s carrying capacity. With how common it can be, capturing a few should be easy early on. |
Tanzee | Grass | Planting (1), Handiwork (1), Lumbering (1), Transporting (1) and Gathering (1) | Found early on regardless of region | Also best early on for base work. Its Partner Skill, Cheery Rifle, also allows it to use an Assault Rifle to gun down enemies, which is decent. |
Pengullet | Water, Ice | Handiwork (1), Transporting (1), Watering (1) and Cooling (1) | Travel slightly Northwest from the Plateau of Beginnings fast travel point to find it near the water. | It’s great for cooling meals and watering crops, plus its Partner Skill – Pengullet Cannon – deals some great damage. Just beware that Pengullet will become incapacitated afterwards. |
Eikthyrdeer | Neutral | Lumbering (2) | Slightly Northwest of the Plateau of Beginnings fast travel point. | Its Partner Skill, Guardian of the Forest, increases tree-cutting efficiency, and when mounted, you can perform double jumps. As far as starter Pals for mounts, it’s a great option. |
Penking | Water, Ice | Handiwork (2), Transporting (2), Watering (2), Cooling (2) and Mining (2) | An Alpha version is in the Sealed Realm of the Frozen Wings. | Its Partner Skill, Brave Sailor, is situational since it provides more items when defeating Fire Pals when fighting together, but it’s still worthwhile for keeping in your base. |
Dazzi | Electric | Generating Electricity (1), Handiwork (1) and Transporting (1) | Found in the desert region to the Northeast. | Having a Pal fight alongside you while throwing out another Pal is a personal preference, but if you do opt for it, Dazee is the best. It can use Electric attacks at a fairly consistent rate, dealing good damage. You need the corresponding equipment, and an enemy can sometimes avoid the attack, so keep that in mind. |
Mossanda | Grass | Planting (2), Handiwork (2), Lumbering (2) and Transporting (3) | North of the Mount Flopie Summit fast travel point | Perhaps the best reason to catch one is because of its Partner Skill, Grenadier Panda. It allows for riding on Mossanda and firing with grenade launchers, dealing exceptional damage. |
Anubis | Ground | Handiwork (4), Mining (3) and Transporting (2) | Travel Northeast from the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant to find Anubis. An Alpha version is in the same region. | Guardian of the Desert is its Partner Skill, which deals Ground damage and grants Anubis a chance to dodge attacks, increasing its survivability in combat. |
Jetragon | Dragon (Legendary) | Gathering (3) | North of the Beach of Everlasting Summer fast travel point near the coast. | Its Partner Skill, Aerial Missile, is insane. You can fire missiles while riding it, letting you rain death from above. |
Frostallion | Ice (Legendary) | Cooling (4) | East of the Land of Absolute Zero fast travel point. | Ice Steed, its Partner Skill, changes player attacks to Ice and enhances their damage when riding on it. |
Lyleen Noct | Dark | Handiwork (3), Gathering (2), Medicine Production (3) | From the Unthawable Lake fast travel point, go Northwest to find an Alpha version. | Its Partner Skill, Goddess of the Tranquil Light, significantly restores the player’s HP. |
Kitsun | Fire | Kindling (2) | You can find it by traveling Southeast of the Free Pal Alliance Tower Entrance. | Bar none of the best Pals to use as a mount, Kitsun’s Partner Skill, Clear Mind, allows you to ride through cold or hot environments without suffering their effects. This means you can ignore any armor with resistances (but only when using it as a mount). |
Digtoise | Ground | Mining (3) | Found Northeast of the Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant, the same region as Anubis. | Its Partner Skill, Drill Crusher, is top-tier as it will start spinning and follow the player, mining ore. Look for a spot on the map with plenty of ore and set Digtoise loose for big gains. |
