Pillars of Eternity

Obsidian Entertainment’s Pillars of Eternity – the crowd-funded RPG which began its life on Kickstarter as Project Eternity – has found an official publisher in the form of Paradox Interactive.

CEO Fred Wester clarified that though it would be acting as publisher, all development and creative control rested with Obsidian. “It’s Obsidian’s project. They retain creative control, it’s their IP. We are going to focus on marketing, distribution and Kickstarter fulfillment. Someone has to send out these T-shirts.”

Pillars of Eternity is well known for becoming one of the highest funded Kickstarter campaigns of all time, amassing $3,986,929 in funds from backers. The game is expected to release in Q4 2014 for PC, Linux and Mac OS X and will have an old-school isometric view point like many classic RPGs. It will feature several classes, traits, races and customization settings for the main character set against a brand new world based on an original IP.
