After peaking at a little over 459,000 concurrent players on Steam at launch, Grinding Gear Games’ Path of Exile 2 has reached a new record. Its new peak is 578,569 concurrent players at this time of writing. If that weren’t enough, the action RPG has become the 15th most-played title in Steam history, with its lifetime peak ahead of Valheim, Terraria, Fallout 4, and more.
It’s all the more impressive considering the server issues faced at launch. Though Grinding Gear Games prepared capacity for one million concurrent players, early access redemptions passed that mark while sales continued to grow. Game director Jonathan Rogers warned of queues, but most couldn’t even log into the title when it went live.
Path of Exile 2 is available for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC – check out our early access review. It will remain in early access for at least six months, though it could be longer. Grinding Gear Games will effectively double the content already available, adding 50 more bosses, three new Acts, six more Classes, etc. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
