European fans of Atlus are long suffering- they have long had to put up with delayed localizations, late releases, uncertainties surrounding game releases in their continent in the first place, and other similar issues, when it comes to games from the publisher.
However, when news broke that Deep Silver would be handling all Atlus releases in Europe going forward, including the long awaited and anticipated Persona 5, players became hopeful that this might change going forward. The lack of concrete release dates was definitely a potentially ominous sign- but for a bit, European Atlus fans allowed themselves to hope.
Their faith was not unfounded, because it seems as though Deep Silver are off to a flying start on the Atlus game localization front. Persona 5 will be launching in Europe on February 14, which is the same day that it is launching in North America- this means that European Persona fans get to play the next installment at the same time as their North American counterparts, instead of having to wait for months and avoiding any and all potential spoilers in that period.
Deep Silver will be offering the same SKUs for Europe that Atlus are for North America- steelbook for the PS4 version, a collector’s edition with the same goodies as in the North American one, and a standard PS3 release.
Persona 5 is going to launch in Japan next month, on September 15. Everywhere else in the world gets it on February 14, which is five months later. mark your calendars.
