The enhanced re-release of Persona 5, dubbed Royal, is coming up. Mostly publisher and developer Atlus has been showing off the new content. We have a new playable party member, new area, and a new confidant. But the game won’t just be adding new content and calling it a day, it’ll also see alterations to the core gameplay, which we’ve seen today.
In a series of two videos, we see break downs of multiple new features Royal will have that the base game did not. Particularly, it talks about the changes we’ll see to palaces and gameplay. While Palaces will largely function the same, they will now have powerful monsters named Kyouma. You can run into those and defeating them will net you rare items. Palaces will also feature a new type of treasure, Ishi, which you have to collect four of to get a rare accessory.
As you move around Palaces, you can also use a new technique to ambush monsters from a long distance. In fights with your enemies you now have the option to customize your weapons to add various effects. You can check both videos out below (thanks to Twinfinite for the translation).
Persona 5 Royal will release on PlayStation 4 October 31st in Japan, with a western release following some time in 2020.
